Justin Wikerd

Justin Wikerd was named the head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field coach at the start of the 2016 season.

Coach Wikerd has served as the head coach of the cross country and track & field programs since the summer of 2016 after seeing lots of success as a high school coach in Pennsylvania. During Coach Wikerd’s short tenure at Gordon, the program has already posted historic levels of success, including the women’s cross country team’s highest ever finish at the 2017 New England Cross Country Championships. Also, the women’s cross country program currently holds 7 of the top 13 times in school history for the 6k.
 
Playing Career
Hard work and passion have characterized Coach Wikerd's running philosophy in high school and college as well as his coaching experience at Dock Mennonite Academy (2009-2015). As a member of the cross country and track teams at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate (Kitchener, Ontario), Coach Wikerd lettered all four years and also earned Athlete of the Year awards 1998 & 1999. At Goshen College, he helped set the record for Indoor & Outdoor 1600m relay team in 2002.

Before Gordon 
Coach Wikerd coached at Dock Mennonite Academy for six years and during that time he coached three cross country teams to Bicentennial League Championships and one cross country team to a District Championship. The 2014 girls' team ended with a ninth place finish at the Pennsylvania State Cross Country Championships. He coached 17 cross country runners to state qualifying standards and one of those medaled. Under Coach Wikerd's leadership in track, two female 800m and two 1600m runners medaled at the state meet with one of those qualifying for nationals. Three times the 4x800m relay teams medaled at the state meet and once qualified for nationals.
 
Coach Wikerd is a recognized USA Track & Field Level 3 Certified Endurance Coach & IAAF Level 5 Certified Endurance Coach. In summer 2015, he earned the honor of attending a national USATF mentorship program held in Eugene, Oregon at the USATF national championships.
 
Family
Coach Wikerd is married and has two children. He enjoys participating in trail ultra marathons and  enjoys photography.
