Jaeger, Gradert Join Class Of 2014 Men's Soccer Commitments

Gordon Men's Soccer would like to announce the recent commitments of Matt Jaeger (Ipswich, Mass.) and Ben Gradert (Hudson, Ohio) for the fall of 2014.

Jaeger and Gradert join a cast of incoming talent already committed to Gordon for the Scots' upcoming campaign including Josh Cochran (Bellevue, Ohio/Mansfield Christian), Blake Troiani (Dallas, Texas/Trinity Christian Academy), Jerry Williams (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford), John Schwien (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley), Tim Andrassy (Hudson, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), Erik Rishel (York, Pa./Central York), and Nathan Bilbie (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock).

"As we look towards the fall, we certainly have some holes to fill with the graduating seniors," said Head Coach Derek Potteiger, "but I think the nine players in the incoming class are all quite capable and I could not be happier with the collective group and the impact they will have not just on the soccer program but the school as a whole."

The team opens up the 2014 fall season at home under the lights of the Brigham Athletic Complex on Saturday, August 30.

What Matt said about coming to Gordon:
"I chose Gordon because I automatically felt a connection with the school the first time I visited. The guys on the team were so welcoming to me and it [Gordon] being so close to my home was a plus for me, too."

Coach Potteiger on Matt:
"Matt is a local product that brings a ton of pace and a knack for scoring goals to the team. He has already accomplished so much in both club and high school but I believe he has the potential to be even more effective within our system and style. Though quiet and reserved I know he will be a key member of the freshman class."

What Ben said about coming to Gordon:
"2017 National Champions. I am really excited to continue my education in a Christian environment. I also am really excited to join a team that has similar values to mine, get to learn from different guys on the team about their experiences, and get to be part of something bigger than just soccer."

Coach Potteiger on Ben:
"Ben continues the line of talented players coming from Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy to Gordon. He will join high school teammate, Tim Andrassy, in the incoming class this fall and has the ability to make an immediate impact on the field. Ben merges a blue collar attitude, a smooth first touch, and a physicality that makes for a pretty special combination. He is a fantastic late addition to the class and will both complement and be complemented by the other eight guys in the group."
