The 2015 Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Championship will be hosted by Roger Williams University on Saturday, October 31st. The men's championship race will cover a course of 8,000 meters starting at 1:00 p.m. Runners from each of the nine CCC men's teams will be competing for the title.
At the 2014 CCC Championship, Roger Williams University earned its 14th consecutive men's title. Despite losing two of the top three finishers from last year's squad, the Hawks will look to defend their title this year. Senior and All-CCC Honoree Chris Busby (4th, 27:33) will lead the way for the Hawks while teammate, Ian Fullerton (19th, 28:46) will provide depth for the team.
Wentworth Institute of Technology, the 2014 runner-up, returns for its second CCC Men's Cross Country Championship. Leading the way for Wentworth is a trio of sophomores in Dan McSolla (6th, 27:38), Patrick Hopkins (8th, 27:46) and Alex Robbins (10th, 27:52). Two-time CCC Rookie of the Week honoree Jonah Eisman will look to provide depth for the Leopards.
University of New England will look to finish in the top three again this year. Leading the way for the Nor'easters are All-CCC Honoree CJ Vallie and junior Paul Mangiafico, both captains, placed 5th (27:35) and 25th (28:55) respectively. Teammates, fellow top 25 finisher Jon Zalman (15th, 28:28) and two-time CCC Rookie of the Week Matthew Toussaint will be crucial to the team's success in the 2015 meet.
Gordon College will look to sophomore and All-CCC Honoree Damon Kilgore (2nd, 27:29) to lead their team at this year's meet. Kilgore has been recognized as the CCC Runner of the Week four times this fall. Key returners for the Fighting Scots include seniors Andrew Manning, Wes Nelson, and Alex Russell.
Western New England University looks to improve on last year's fifth place finish. Leading the way for the Golden Bears are last year's top finishers in Jonathan Ricciardi (28th, 29:13), Ed Kaczenski and Adrian Barber who finished 37th and 38th, respectively at last year's meet. Captains Dana Alyward and Ethan Freedman will provide depth for Western New England at this year's meet.
Endicott College returns from last year's championship top finisher, Zachary Marshall (17th, 28:42). The Gulls will look to two-time Rookie of the Week Austin Landry to provide depth in this year's championship meet. Be on the lookout for junior Noah Mondello (29th, 29:19) to improve on last year's performance.
Salve Regina University returns their top finishers in junior Billy Martin (20th, 28:46) and senior Sean Hughes (26th, 29:08). Hughes has been named CCC Runner of the Week once this season. The Seahawks will look to freshman and one-time CCC Rookie of the Week winner, Tyler Lancaster, as well as Dave Napierkowski during this weekend's championship.
Nichols College returns the top finisher from last year's championship in junior Stephen Davis. Davis clocked in at 32:37 placing him in 82nd out of 125 runners. Another key returner to the Bison lineup is senior Chad Lewis, who finished 85th for the Bison last year.
Eastern Nazarene College returns to the CCC Championship with last year's top finishers for the Lions in junior Gregory Whitney (69th, 31:48) and sophomore Andrew Shaw (119th, 37:28). The Lions will look improve on last year's 9th place finish.
