WESTFIELD, Mass.—The Gordon Women's Cross Country program ended its 2016 campaign with a 41st place finish in the Division III New England Championship race on Saturday. Freshman Angie Epplett (Uxbridge, Mass.) crossed the line as Gordon's top runner in 146th place overall, while just missing out finishing under 24 minutes in the 6K race.
Epplett was the top runner for Gordon all season and continued her string of strong performances to lead the Scots. She finishes her first year at Gordon as a one-time Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week award winner.
Junior Louisa Dodds (Hillsdale, N.Y.) came in nine seconds behind her freshman teammate with a time of 24:10 in 156th. Julia Drewicke (San Francisco, Calif.) and Sarah DeGenero (Albany, N.Y.) came in back-to-back just over the 27-minute mark. Cassie McCoumb (Centennial, Colo.) rounded out Gordon's scoring lineup in 335th overall.
Nationally ranked MIT took home the women's event, just ahead of Williams and Tufts. CCC foe UNE finished in 12th.
