SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Angie Epplett's (Uxbridge, Mass.) solid showing in Gordon's home race on Saturday earned her the title of Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week in women's cross country on Monday. Epplett finished the Pop Crowell Invitational in seventh place overall to help Gordon earn silver status in the team event.

Epplett has been a revelation for the Fighting Scots, surprising in her first race as Gordon's top finisher and not looking back in each of the team's subsequent races. The freshman ran a career high 19:34 in the 3.1 mile event through the Gordon Woods, besting UNE's top rookie Emily Wasina by just four seconds.

Seventh place was Epplett's highest finish this season.

Gordon is back in action on October 8 at Westfield State's James Earley Invite.
