Gordon College Men's Basketball junior forward Hans Miersma (Whitinsville, Mass.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week and Gordon's Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Fighting Scots to the 2013-14 CCC title.

In the tournament's opening round against Roger Williams, Miersma recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, two blocks, and one assist to guide Gordon to the 78-59 win. Two nights later, he pulled in 11 rebounds, netted eight points, and notched two blocks in a 66-55 semifinal win over Wentworth. In the 11-point victory, he became the all-time school leader in shot blocks for a career and a single season.

Then in the championship matchup with host Nichols on Saturday, the CCC Defensive Player of the Year recorded 15 points, 12 of which he netted in the second half, 12 rebounds, and two blocks to help the Scots complete a 17-point comeback in the final 10 minutes to earn a 69-65 victory and their second CCC crown.

Miersma averaged a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) while shooting an impressive 70 percent (14-of-20) from the field in the three-game championship tournament week.
