Gordon College Athletics

Sophomore field hockey players Bailey Balmer (Perkasie, Pa.) has been named Gordon's Athlete of the Week after earning a NFHCA New England East Second-Team nod for her work in Gordon's defense. 

Balmer was a standout defender for a Fighting Scots team that made it all the way to the ECAC final at Plymouth State last weekend. She has started 43 of 46 games in her career, including all 23 this season. Balmer also pitched in two defensive saves for the Scots this season, in a 3-0 win against Nichols and again in a CCC semifinal loss to Endicott. Gordon had the second best defense in conference play, tying with Endicott for only 18 goals allowed. Only UNE had a better mark with 11 goals allowed.
