Senior Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) has been named Gordon Athlete of the Week after earning three conference awards on Tuesday, including Senior Scholar Athlete.
Yeaw finishes off her final conference season in Wenham with perhaps her best year to date. The senior has yet to drop a match in either singles or doubles in head-to-head play. She is the only conference player to be undefeated at the No. 3 flight this season and is 10-0 combined between two and three singles. Despite her impressive record, Yeaw was only named to the second team this fall.
Denney and Yeaw teamed up to earn the best doubles record in Gordon history for a fall season. Gordon's top double lineup won all nine matches in which they played and went 6-0 in the CCC, which earned them the distinction of First Team Doubles. Yeaw also went 1-0 at second doubles with Lily Drescher during Gordon's senior day match.
Off the court, Yeaw added to Gordon's hardware for her work in the classroom as the CCC Senior Scholar Athlete. Combined with her near perfection on the court this season, Yeaw sports an equally impressive 3.78 grade-point average in elementary education and history. She is seeking dual licensure with elementary education and ESL. She has been a two-year captain and has consistently been named to a plethora of the general collegiate awards lists for academics and athletics in her three years at Gordon.
