Junior lefty Matt Amore (Pequannock, N.J.) allowed only one hit and struck out 11 batters in an impressive 1-0 victory at Roger Williams on Saturday. The Commonwealth Coast Conference rewarded the Gordon starter on Monday with the Pitcher of the Week award for the week of April 10. 

Coming off an injury-ridden season as a sophomore, Amore has been a workhorse for the Fighting Scots in his first full season as a starter. The lefty has replicated his solid results from his rookie season and taken them to another level. Amore has won all five games in which he has started and has allow only three earned runs in six appearances—all coming in two games in Florida. He leads the conference in multiple categories, including ERA, strikeouts and K's per nine innings. 

Amore has fanned at least seven batters in each of his five starts, including cutting down 11 batters in wins against Mass Maritime and Roger Williams. He has only given up 16 hits in 31 innings, three of which are of the extra-base variety. 

Gordon is outscoring opponents 40-18 when he makes an appearance.
