Megan Jenkerson (McDonough, Ga.) became the first Gordon Softball player to win Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week honors since Kim Levinsky '10 in 2009 after a dynamic week at the top of the order for the Fighting Scots.
The CCC named Jenkerson the PoTW representative for the conference after hitting over .500 for the week with a conference-high 13 RBI.
Jenkerson is the engine that makes Gordon's offense go so far this season. Despite her placement at the top of the lineup, Jenkerson leads the conference with six home runs and 21 RBI in 2017. Her totals put her near Gordon's single-season records in each category and among the elite hitters in Division III this spring.
Through a season and a half, Jenkerson has packed a punch with 11 home runs which puts her just six shy of the record for a career with plenty of time remaining during her time in Wenham. Jenkerson has also already improved her RBI mark of 12 from last season with the back half of Gordon's lineup reaching base more often in the middle innings.
The sophomore utility player is one of just two players to start all 22 games this spring and leads the team in every major stat category other than doubles, which she shares with senior
Carleigh Petersen (North Hills, Calif.). Through the midway point of the conference schedule, she is batting .420 with a .870 slugging mark and a near-.500 on-base percentage.
