After a record-breaking rookie debut, freshman forward Leanna Tallamy (Wantage, N.J.) has been honored as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year and All-CCC First Team selection as announced today by CCC Commissioner Gregg Kaye.

Voting for the All-CCC teams and major season awards was conducted by the league's head coaches.

Tallamy, who was also named the CCC Player and Rookie of the Week this week, rounded out the 2012 campaign as the CCC's leading scorer (475) and rebounder (266), averaging 19.0 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while also leading the league in field-goal percentage (.484). Additionally, she ranked 10th in the CCC in steals per game (2.0) and 11th in free-throw percentage (.700). On the national level, Tallamy ended the regular season ranked seventh among NCAA Division III freshmen in double-doubles (16) and finished 22nd overall in points per game and 37th in rebounds per game.

The freshman phenom was eight times voted the CCC's Rookie of the Week and, with this week's release, garners her first Player of the Week nod.

Said Head Coach Julie Brown of Tallamy's achievements, "Leanna’s success comes from her willingness to work hard every day and every game. It’s also a reflection of our team’s commitment to get her the ball in certain situations. She would be the first to praise her teammates for their dedication to getting better every day. Our team has high goals for next season and we are all excited to continue to work in the off-season and build on some of these individual successes."
