Gordon Softball senior catcher Liz Cheesman (Winslow, Maine) has been selected as Gordon's Athlete of the Week after recording outstanding numbers on the diamond for the Fighting Scots over the past few games of action.

In a road doubleheader against Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Roger Williams on Saturday, despite a pair of losses on the day, Cheesman started the outing batting 3-3 in game one with two doubles and an RBI to go with four put outs and one assist on defense. She followed that up with another standout effort in game two, going 2-3 with one run and one RBI on a solo shot to left to lead off the fifth.

Then, in a CCC twinbill at Eastern Nazarene on Monday to start off the week's action, Cheesman posted a 4-6 day which included three runs and two RBI on a double and the game-winning home run in the Scots' 6-5 nightcap victory. She also recorded 15 put outs and two assists from behind the plate.

Overall on the season she is batting .372 and has a .989 fielding percentage having amassed 72 put outs, 17 assists, and just one error.
