Men's lacrosse sophomore long-stick midfielder Ian Knechtle (New Canaan, Conn.) has been named Gordon's Athlete of the Week for his play over the course of the Fighting Scots' 2012 campaign.

A formidable force in the defensive midfield, Knechtle was the team's leader in ground balls (90) and caused turnovers (47) and finished the season ranked fourth in the conference for ground balls per game with 5.62. He also chipped in three goals and five assists to the Scots' offense and helped lead a defensive effort that posted an 8.98 goals-against average.

For his efforts Knechtle was honored as a member of the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) First Team.

The Scots rounded out their season at 8-8 overall, falling in the conference semifinals to the eventual CCC Champion Golden Bears of Western New England.
