Gordon Women's Soccer defender
Rachel Ashley (Sr./Lowville, N.Y.) has been selected as Gordon's Athlete of the Week for the week of July 9.
Ashley enters her fourth season as a Fighting Scot under the tutelage of Head Coach Marc Whitehouse, and together with fellow senior
Karina Scavo (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) will captain the team's 2012 campaign set to kickoff on August 31 against Southern Maine.
Starting in each of Gordon's 18 games last season, Ashley was instrumental to the Scots' stingy back line which allowed just 1.10 goals per game.
A standout off the field as well, Ashley was presented with the President's Award in the spring of 2012, an honor for the single student who has quietly and faithfully most served the wider Gordon community, and was selected as one of six
Gordon Presidential Fellows for the upcoming academic year. Working in the office of the Vice President for Student Life, she will serve in close partnership with the College's senior leaders, developing vital leadership skills while working to advance the mission of Gordon College.
