Men's basketball sophomore center Hans Miersma (Whitinsville, Mass.) has been named Gordon's Athlete of the Week after garnering Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year and an All-CCC Second Team nod in the recently released conference postseason awards.

Miersma has been a high impact player for the Scots all season, providing significant numbers on the offensive end of the floor and contributing heavily to the Scots' defensive effort to lead them to a 19-6 overall regular season record and the No. 2 seed in the CCC Tournament. Prior to the start of the postseason tournament, he led the CCC in field goal percentage (65 percent) and blocks (31) and ranked 2^nd in the conference in total rebounds with 152. Miersma also ranks 48^th in blocked shots per game (1.76) and 39^th in double-doubles (10) among all NCAA Division III men’s basketball players.
