Caitlin Nedde Scores 4 Goals; Gordon Blanks Wentworth 5-0

WENHAM, MA. -- Sophomore Caitlin Nedde (Colchester, VT) scored four goals as she carried Gordon to a 5-0 whitewash of visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology. Gordon moves to 7-3 on the season and 3-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action, while Wentworth drops to 2-7-1, and is 1-4-1 in league play.

Nedde put the match away early when she scored twice in the first seven minutes. Her first goal was setup on a cross into the box from Karina Scavo (Mount Sinai, NY). The second goal was created by a long pass from Julia Miller (New York, NY) which Nedde received and took behind the Leopards' defense for a clean breakaway.

Up 2-0, Scavo struck in the 15th minute, showing off some fancy footwork before burying a shot from close range off the left wing. The fourth goal of the half was scored by Nedde, as she was set up by Kaelyn McBride (Franklin, MA) for another breakaway goal.

Gordon outshot Wentworth 12-6 in the first half and took a 4-0 lead into the break.

Nedde finished her afternoon with a goal in the 55th minute when she ripped a long shot off the left wing over the outstretched arms of Leopards' goalkeeper Jess Gardner (Wilbraham, MA).

Kari Christensen (Standish, ME) played most of the afternoon in goal and she combined with Abbey McManus (Bel Air, MD) on the shutout. The duo posted six saves. Gardner and Michelle Lough (East Wintrhop, ME) both saw time in net for the Leopards and combined for 7 saves.

Gordon will travel to Milton to face Curry at 11:00A.M. in a key conference matchup on Saturday. Wentworth will be at Regis at 1:00P.M. on Saturday.
