Scots Take On Conference Best At CCC Championship


On the road in Bristol, R.I. to take on the best from around the conference in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship hosted by Roger Williams University, the Fighting Scots battled through tough conditions to place fourth on both the men's and women's sides and post two runners on the All-Conference team.

For the women, Allison Lynch (Sr./Holliston, Mass.) placed an impressive fourth out of 103 runners on the 6k course, coming in at 24:32 to earn herself All-Conference honors. Teammates Kelcy Rich (Sr./Hudson, Mass.), Emily Urquhart (Fr./White River Junction, Vt.), and Katie Hakanson-Stacy (Jr./East Longmeadow, Mass.) earned the 14th, 15th, and 17th place, respectively, crossing the finish within six seconds of each other. Rounding out the top five for the women was Amy Holcombe (Sr./Minocqua, Wis.) in the 30th spot with a 26:03 finish, while Samantha Goedeke (Jr./Villa Park, Ill.) followed closely behind at 26:21. As a team the Scots dropped 44 seconds off last year's overall average time to place fourth out of the eight competing teams.

For the men, Josh Porizky (Jr./Groton, Conn.) earned All-Conference honors with a seventh place finish overall, finishing in 28:16 on the 8k course. Not far behind was Levi Miller (Sr./Coopersburg, Pa.), who finished 12th on the day and narrowly missed his own spot on the All-CCC team with a 28:30 result. Rounding out the Scots runners were Dwight Huseland (Fr./Lebanon, N.J.) at 29:44,  Andrew Kwiatkowski (So./Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) at 31:45, Luke Versland (Jr./Avon, Conn.) at 31:48, Jed Meyers (Fr./Medford, N.J.) at 31:49, and Brad McCollester (Fr./West Chester, Pa.) at 32:30.

The Scots will compete in the ECAC Championship hosted by Williams College on Saturday, November 5, the women's race beginning at 11:00a.m. and the men's at 12:00p.m.
