Scots Wrap Up First Semester With 66-54 Win Over Lasell

Box Score
In their final contest of the first semester, the Fighting Scots commanded a 66-54 non-conference win over the visiting Lasers of Lasell College to improve to 4-4 overall on the year.

With the score an even 6-6 after the opening five minutes, Leanna Tallamay (Fr./Wantage, N.J.) hit a jumper in the paint to start the Scots on a 9-2 run resulting in a seven-point lead with 12 minutes to play. Lasell battled back to tie to game at 21-21 with six minutes on the clock and kept it close until Gordon used a 15-2 run to establish a healthy 13-point advantage with two minutes to go before the break.

Though the Scots entered the half carrying a 15-point edge, the Lasers came out of the gates firing in the second for a 10-2 streak to cut the deficit to seven points with just under 14 minutes remaining. They would further close the gap over the next eight minutes of play to leave Gordon with just a four-point, 51-47 lead. Refusing to cede the loss on their home court, the Scots buckled down on the defensive and buried critical shots down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Tallamy finished the afternoon with a dynamic 18-point, 15-rebound double-double, while forward Lauren Kranyak (So./Locust Grove, Va.) was just shy of a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Additionally, guards Aly Towle (Fr./Rochester, N.H.) and Catey Marshall (Sr./St. Johnsbury, Vt.) netted 10 apiece in the win.

Lasell was led by Justine Ryan with 11 points, while Danielle Autencio recorded nine points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The Scots are on semester break until December 31 when they travel to Johnson & Wales for a 1:00p.m., non-conference contest. Lasell, now 0-10 overall on the season, hosts Emmanuel on January 7 at 1:00p.m.
