Doskocil Ties Gordon Record In 400 At New England Regionals

CAMBRIDGE, MA. -- Sophomore Kitty Doskocil (Sterling, Mass.) tied the Gordon record in the 400 meter dash, posting a time of 1:01.62 at the Division III New England Regionals at MIT on February 18. She now shares the record with former Gordon runner, Serene King.

Doskocil was ranked 22nd among 22 runners going into the event but ran to an impressive 12th-place finish, shaving a full second and a half off her previous personal best. Doskocil was one of three runners to post a faster time than where they were seeded.

"I think Kitty represents all that's good about track," said head track and field coach, Peter Foster. "You can make yourself faster but you have to dare to do mighty things- you have to acquire information, you have to assimilate it, and you have to apply it. And when the lights go on she does it. And she understand that she's only as good as her next race so she's back at it today. I only hope that I can make her take a couple days off."
