MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost to visiting Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon College, 0-1, on Wednesday evening. The Fighting Scots improve to 13-2 overall and 6-1 in the CCC. The Colonels fell to 6-9-2 on the season, and 1-6 in the CCC.
Gordon College controlled the first half of play, holding a demanding 15-5 in shots. Senior netminder
Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, Mass.) was solid between the pipes making 12 saves and holding the Fighting Scots to just one tally. The lone goal by Gordon in the opening frame resulted in the 1-0 victory. At the 17:28 minute mark, senior

Tiana Stanton (Springfield, Mass.) and one-timed the ball that soared over Hardy’s head. Curry had a chance of its own late in the frame when junior Alexsa Hesford (Scituate, R.I.) took a shot outside of the 18-yard box that nearly went top corner but hit the post. The teams battled for the remainder of the half, but Gordon was able to hang on to the one goal lead and eventual game-winner.
Curry finished the half with five shots, three on net and two fouls. Gordon had 15 shots, 12 on net and one foul.
The Fighting Scots continued their strong play heading into the final stanza. Once again they outshot the Colonel’s, this time by a demanding 14-8. Gordon’s junior goalkeeper
Kari Christensen (Standish, Maine) was strong in net to hold Curry scoreless and earn her team's shutout. Curry was determined to try to tie the game and fought hard. In the last ten minutes of regulation they tested the Fighting Scots defense, but were unable to put one of their own on the board. The Colonels’ resilience wasn’t enough to earn a second conference win and fell to Gordon.
Curry ended with a game total of 13 shots, seven on net, two corners and three fouls. Gordon ended with 29 shots, 20 on goal, seven corners and two fouls.
Hardy made an incredible 19 saves in net for the Colonels in the loss. Christensen made seven saves, including the shutout for the Fighting Scots for the win.
The Colonels will travel to take on CCC opponent Western New England on Saturday, October 20 for an 11:00 a.m. game start. The Fighting Scots will travel to CCC opponent Eastern Nazarene on Saturday also for an 11:00 a.m. start.
