Scots Roll To Dominant 9-0 Win Over Mt. Ida

In non-conference women's tennis action on Monday afternoon, the Fighting Scots cruised to a dominant 9-0 win over host Mt. Ida College to improve to 4-7 overall on the year. The loss drops the Mustangs to 1-9.

The Scots took command of the match early on as the No. 2 doubles team of Jessie Dupre (Sr./North Billerica, Mass.) and Eva Kenna (So./Harvard, Mass.) and No. 3 duo of Rachel Kauffman (So./Harleysville, Pa.) and Lourdes Rojo (Fr./Brooklyn, N.Y.) swept through their matches with 8-0 victories. Lily Drescher (Fr./Reading, Mass.) and Sarah Hickey (Sr./Stony Brook, N.Y.) gave Gordon the 3-0 lead after posting an 8-5 win in the No. 1 spot over Mt. Ida's Kayla Horton (Sr./Brockton, Mass.) and Julia Pagliuca (So./Saugus, Mass.).

In singles play, the closest fight of the afternoon came between Drescher and Horton at No. 1, who dueled through two complete sets before Drescher sealed the win with a 10-4 tiebreaker in the third (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4)). From there the match belonged entirely to the Scots as Hickey, Dupre, Hannah Damon (So./Mystic, Conn.), and Murielle Renfort (Fr./Brockton, Mass.) swept through their respective singles matches, 6-0, 6-0, and Venetia Breene (Jr./Weston, Mass.) conceded just three games in a win at No. 6 (6-1, 6-2).

The Scots return to the court on Wednesday, Oct. 3 as they travel to Curry for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup beginning at 3:30p.m.
