The Gulls of Endicott College soared over the host Fighting Scots in women's tennis action today at the Brigham Athletic Complex, completing the 9-0 sweep to improve to 11-2 overall, 7-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The host Scots fall to 4-9 overall, 2-6 in the CCC.
Hannah Damon (So./Mystic, Conn.) and
Eva Kenna (So./Harvard, Mass.) posted the strongest showing on the day for Gordon, picking up four games before falling 8-4 at No. 3 doubles to Endicott's Amy Heacox (So./Marion, Mass.) and and Brittany Potter (Fr./Bedford, N.H.).
From then on the day belonged entirely to the Gulls, however, who went on to pick up straight-set wins in singles play without ceding more than two games in any individual match en route to the sweep win.
Gina Pinciaro (Sr./Beverly, Mass.) was perfect on the day for the Gulls, completing an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles with partner Emilie Cloutier (Jr./Lewiston, Maine) before going on to win 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
The Gulls enter the CCC playoffs as the No. 2 seed behind No. 1 Nichols College, while the Scots wrapped up their 2012 campaign with today's match.
