Box Score
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Freshman Chelsea Vujs (Berlin, Conn.) registered a double-double of 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds and senior tri-captains Emily Savino (Ellington, Conn.) and Shelby Van Huysen (Killingworth, Conn.) added 14 and 10 points apiece, helping the Western New England University women's basketball team to a 50-26 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory Wednesday over visiting Gordon College at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house.
The Golden Bears established a considerable lead in the first, holding the Scots to just eight first half points to head into the locker room with a 23-8 advantage.
Despite an improved shooting percentage in the second, the deficit proved too great for the Scots to overcome, as WNE netted 27 in the frame behind 36 percent shooting from the floor to secure their third win of the season.
Brooke Kratche (So./Chagrin Falls, Ohio) was the Scots' leading scorer on the night with eight points to go with nine rebounds.
Lauren Kranyak (Jr./Locust Grove, Va.) also contributed seven points, six boards to the effort.
WNE (3-1/1-0) travels to take on Nichols in CCC action on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m., while the Scots (2-2/0-1) host Curry in league play on the same day at 1 p.m.
