MEET RESULTS
On the road at the Harvard Open today, the Fighting Scots established two new school records as they kicked off the 2012-2013 indoor track and field season.
Shortly after 10 a.m., junior Megan Wernig (Gilford, N.H.) threw the 20 lb weight 9.49 meters (31' 1.5") on her first throw of the day to surpass the previous mark of 30' 5" set by Emily Borden in December of 2010.
Over eight hours later in the day's final event, the women's 4x400 meter relay team of Samantha Goedeke (Sr./Villa Park, Ill.), Leanna D'Alfonso (Fr./Gorham, Maine), Mary-Beth Gray (Jr./Gaffney, S.C.), and Leanne Beedle (Fr./Bethany, Conn.) brought home a new Gordon best of 4:27.52, breaking the old mark by just under two and a half seconds.
"I was impressed by the way our ladies stepped up their intensity at the end of a long day on a slow track. I am optimistic that we will run faster after another month and a half of training together."
The Scots' next indoor meet will take place on Jan. 26 at Southern Maine.
