The Fighting Scots notched their second consecutive tally in the win column today with a 6-3 decision over visiting Suffolk University in non-conference women's tennis action at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
The Scots looked strong from the outset as
Lily Drescher (Fr./Reading, Mass.) and
Sarah Hickey (Sr./Stony Brook, N.Y.) took an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Suffolk's Erica LeBlanc (So./Londonderry, N.H.) and Adrianna Garret (So./Plymouth, Mass.) and
Jessie Dupre (Sr./North Billerica, Mass.) and
Eva Kenna (So./Harvard, Mass.) an 8-5 win at No. 2 over Lizzie Arkins (Jr./Melrose, Mass.) and Allie Weisenbach (Sr./Hamden, Conn.) to give Gordon a slight 2-1 lead heading into singles action.
From there the Scots went on to claim four of six matches in individual play, with Hickey and Dupre posting commanding victories 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-2 results at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
Rookie
Murielle Renfort (Fr./Brockton, Mass.) also picked up a solid win over Rebecca Eshoo (Fr./Farmington, Conn.) at No. 6 (6-3, 6-3), while teammate
Rachel Kauffman (So./Harleysville, Pa.) dueled the Rams' Stacey Politis (Jr./Saugus, Mass.) to a 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 5.
The Scots, now 2-4 overall on the year, have a quick turnaround as they travel to face non-conference Clark University tomorrow at 4:00p.m. Suffolk will travel to Simmons on Wednesday, Sept. 19 for a 4:00p.m. start.
