Scots Move To 9-1 With 2-0 Victory Over Nichols

Box Score

In women's soccer action today the Scots remain unbeaten in Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 2-0 win over the Bison of Nichols College.

The Scots began the game on the offensive with 15 of their 21 shots on the day coming in the first half. Despite Gordon's best efforts, it was not until the 45th minute that Taylor McSherry (So./Wolcott, Conn.) slotted a ball deep in the area past Nichols keeper Melissa Toomey (Fr./Saugus, Mass.) to give the Scots the 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half proved much of the same as the Scots mounted several promising attacks with no result until late in the half. Midway through the period, it looked as though Gordon's Karina Scavo (Sr./Mount Sinai, N.Y.) had finished on a corner from Kendra Woudenberg (Jr./Whitinsville, Mass.) but the goal was called back due an obstruction call.

Senior captain Caitlin Nedde (Colchester, Vt.) finished the scoring for the Scots in the 86th minute breaking through the Bison defense to net her ninth goal of the season.

Scots' netminder Kari Christensen (Jr./Standish, Maine) grabbed her eighth shutout on the year with four saves in the match. Nichols' Toomey split time with reserve keeper Kelly English (Fr./Mansfield, Mass.) and combined for 11 saves on 21 shots faced.

The Scots return to field on Wednesday, October 3 to host CCC foe Endicott College at 3:30p.m. while the Bison travel to face Eastern Nazarene on the same day.
