Hosting over 30 teams on Saturday morning for the annual Pop Crowell Invitational, the Fighting Scots took 11th place overall on the women's side and 12th on the men's in their penultimate meet of the regular race season.
Leanne Beedle (Fr./Bethany, Conn.) continued her dominance on the trails for the Gordon women, coming in 29th of 317 runners and first of all Scots for the third consecutive week with a 19:47 finish.
Katie Hakanson-Stacy (Sr./East Longmeadow, Mass.) was the next Scot to come home, take the 61st spot at 20:28. Not far behind were
Mariah Geiger (Fr./Londonderry, N.H.) and
Samantha Goedeke (Sr./Villa Park, Ill.) in 77th and 80th at 20:43 and 20:48, respectively.
Wellesley took top team honors with a 1:35:35 (51 points), while Gordon was 11th of the 27 scoring teams at 1:42:46 (309 points). Individually, Roger Williams University's Hannah Zydanowicz was the top finisher on the day at 18:36.
On the men's side,
Andrew Swanson (Fr./Lexington, Mass.) was once again the top runner for Gordon, taking 53rd in the 275-runner field at 28:00. Teammate
Andrew Kwiatkowski (Jr./Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was second of all Scots at 66th with a 28:25 result, while
Wes Nelson (Fr./Charlton, Mass.) was 83rd at 28:50 and
Kory Powers (Fr./Waterford, Vt.) was 85th at 28:53.
Earning the top seat overall was Bates College with 61 points on a 2:14.40 total time, while Gordon grabbed 12th of 25 with 350 points on a 2:24:43. Unattached runner Antoine Gisore bested all runners in the men's field with a 25:45 finish.
The Scots have a week off before traveling to Western New England on Saturday, October 13.
