Scots Host Babson In Non-Conference Meet


MEET RESULTS

Hosting non-conference Babson College in swimming action today in Gordon's Bennett Athletic Center, the Fighting Scots fell 130-70 on the women's side and 133-91 on the men's in their penultimate home meet of the 2012-2013 season.

Despite the loss, the women posted a pair of individual wins on the day as Katherine Zablocki (So./Walnut Creek, Calif.) came in first of four in the 50 breast at 34.97 and Emily David (Fr./North Kingston, R.I.) also bested her heat in the 50 fly at 29.25. Coming in just behind David in that event was Sarah Salcone (So./Newton, N.J.), who posted a 32.82 for second place honors. David also set a personal record in the 50 back, breaking her mark previously set on December 4 with a 29.93.

Additionally, Julianne Kirkpatrick (So./Rochester, N.Y.), Zablocki, Nicole St. Martin (Fr./Westport, Mass.), and David teamed up to outpace the competition in the 200 free relay, recording a 1:50.55 result.

The men saw four individual firsts in the water as Austin Drukker (So./Bedford, N.H.) turned in a 1:03.74 in the 100 back, Andrew Lewis (Fr./Mystic, Conn.) a 5:28.36 in the 500 free, Brian Pearson (Sr./Kennebunk, Maine) a 29:35 in the 50 fly, and Jesse Laniak (Sr./Matthews, N.C.) a 2:25.66 in the 200 IM. Pearson also swam to a second place result in the 100 back at 1:07.62, while teammate Brett Johnson (So./Easton, Mass.) finished second behind Pearson in the 50 fly with a 29.43 time.

Drukker, Johnson, Lewis, and Cameron Schofield (Fr./Middleboro, Mass.) later posted a combined first with a 1:43.61 in the 200 free relay.

The women return to the lanes on Saturday, January 12 as they travel to the University of New England for a 1p.m. start. Following that meet both the men and women have a week and a half break before returning to their home water to face UMass Dartmouth on January 22 at 6p.m.
