MEET RESULTS
Hosting the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth in their final home meet of the 2012-2013 season, the Fighting Scots men and women earned a combined 10 top individual finishes and two relay firsts on the day while also registering four qualifying times for the upcoming New England Collegiate Championships to be held February 7-10.
Though the women were bested by their guests overall, 133-98,
Julianne Kirkpatrick (So./Rochester, N.Y.) outpaced her heat in the 500 free by 32 seconds with a New England's A cut time of 5:45.15 and posted another A cut in the 200 free at 2:08.65. Teammate
Emily David (Fr./North Kingston, R.I.) had a strong day in the lanes with a pair of top times in the 50 free (26.61) and 100 IM (1:06.72), while
Nicole St. Martin (Fr./Westport, Mass.) posted her own first in the 50 fly at 30.57.
Cassie Wetzell (Fr./Ham Lake, Minn.) joined Kirkpatrick in qualifying for New England's with a 1:09.93 in the 100 back before taking first in the 200 back at 2:32.50.
Kirkpatrick,
Katherine Zablocki (So./Walnut Creek, Calif.), St. Martin, and David also combined for a win in the 200 free at 1:49.71.
On the men's side, despite a narrow 118.5-104.5 defeat, the Scots'
Joshua Florez (Fr./West Hartford, Conn.) recorded firsts in the 50 and 100 breast (30.20/1:04.83) and
Cameron Schofield (Fr./Middleboro, Mass.) did the same in the 100 free (52.90) and 100 IM (59.76). Senior
Marcos Castellano (Lynn, Mass.) also booked his own top time in the 50 fly (30.37) and registered an A cut time in the 100 fly at 1:05.51, while
Brian Pearson (Sr./Kennebunk, Maine) earned an A cut in the 100 back at 1:03.81.
As a group, the relay squad of
Austin Drukker (So./Bedford, N.H.),
Brett Johnson (So./Easton, Mass.),
Andrew Lewis (Fr./Mystic, Conn.), and Schofield joined forces to down their competition in the 200 free with a 1:42.47.
The Scots will travel to St. Joseph's (Maine) for their final regular season meet on Saturday, February 2.
