WENHAM, Mass. – For the first time in program history, the Men's and Women's Swim teams both registered wins in the same meet, handling Regis College in the Bennett Center pool on Saturday afternoon. The young Scots avenged two losses against Regis last year, as the women defeated the Pride 135-120, while the men controlled the scoring in the match with a 130-90 victory.
Â
The women got out to a good start in the first event of the day, as the Scots "A" team in the 200 Yard Medley Relay edged out Regis by over four seconds. Nicole St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) anchored the Scots in the event, posting a 26.62 time to lead the Scots to their event win.
Â
St. Martin backed up the performance with an individual victory in the 200 Freestyle, edging out her teammate Cassie Wetzell (Ham Lake, Minn.) by 12 seconds. Wetzell picked up a second-place finish, seven seconds ahead of the top Pride swimmer.
Â
Emily David (North Kingston, R.I.) and Katherine Zablocki (Walnut Creek, Calif.) picked up wins in the 50 Yard Backstroke and 50 Yard Breastroke to continue the dominating performance by the Scots. Emily Sneddon (Centreville, Md.) grabbed a win in the 100 Yard Butterfly, while freshman Paige Hammacker (Denver, Pa.) garnered two top awards in the 50 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Freestyle individual races.
Â
David and Zablocki finished off the scoring in the 100 Yard IM, finishing first and second respectively.
Â
On the men's side the men swept the scoring in almost every event on the day. The Scots "A" and "B" teams finished top two in the first men's event of the day and didn't relinquish their lead for the remainder of the meet.
Â
Austin Drukker (Bedford, N.H.) won the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:41.97—40 seconds ahead of his opponent. His brother Dean, and Andrew Lewis (Mystic, Conn.) completed a clean sweep in the 200 Yard Freestyle race. Joshua Florez (West Hartford, Conn.) and Langdon Kessner (Rochester, N.Y.) followed suit in the 50 and 100 Yard Breastroke events.
Â
The Scots best performance of the day came in the 500 Yard Freestyle when Lewis and the Drukker brothers finished 1-2-3 to build up Gordon's already slanted lead. Cameron Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) and Brett Johnson (Easton, Mass.) ended the day by taking the top two spots in the 50 Yard Butterfly.
Â
The Gordon men have nearly a month break before getting back in the pool at Bridgewater State on December 3. The women are back on the road next Saturday for a meet with CCC rival Western New England.Â
