Fauber Breaks School Record as Swim Teams Sweep Bears

Meet Results
BRIDGEWATER, Mass.—The Thanksgiving holiday did nothing to slow down the red hot Gordon swim teams, as both the men and women pulled out big victories over the host Bridgewater State Bears on Tuesday night. The women pulled out their fourth straight meet victory for the first time in program history, while the men won their second meet in a row despite competing for their first time in nearly a month.

Daniel Fauber (Granbury, Texas) headlined the Scots' evening by breaking the school record in the 100 Yard Butterfly by nearly a tenth of a second. Fauber, a freshman, bested Nate Parson's 54.87 record set back during the 2008-09 season by posting a 54.78 official time. Fauber's excellence in the event so early in his collegiate career has been a revelation for a much-improved men's squad. He also picked up a wins in the 200 Yard IM and 100 Yard Freestyle later in the evening.

The Scots men took first place in each of the first six events of the day, until Bridgewater scored their first top finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle race. Gordon finished out a dominating 166-109 win over the Bears despite giving up essentially free points in all diving events because the Scots only compete in swim events.

Brett Johnson (Easton, Mass.) and Cameron Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) each put forth their best 50 Yard Butterfly times of the season, finishing first and second in the race respectively. Joshua Florez (West Hartford, Conn.) finished just behind them for a clean sweep in the event.

Caleb Peterson (Dover, Mass.) had another strong day during his freshman campaign, by winning two individual events as well as starting off the Scots' "A" team in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.

The women kicked off the night by edging out the Bears in the 200 Yard Medley Relay by half a second. Erin Walker (Wenham, Mass.) continued the trend of victory with a dominant performance in the 1000 Yard Freestyle race. The sophomore finished 38 seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer for Bridgewater.

Nicole St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) had her best race of the season in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:07.25, which was 13 seconds ahead of her competitors. Later in the meet, St. Martin finished nearly a minute ahead of her teammate Walker to take the crown in the 500 Yard Freestyle.

Freshman Alex Hall (Boca Raton, Fla.)—competing in her first race of the season—won the 100 Yard Backstroke just a few seconds ahead of fellow first-year Maya Ahluwalia (Scarborough, Maine).

Katherine Zablocki (Walnut Creek, Calif.) completed the feat of winning first place in all four events she was involved in—two individual races and two relays.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday morning as they travel up to New London, N.H. for the Colby-Sawyer Invitational.
