NEW LONDON, N.H.—For the second straight week, Daniel Fauber (Granbury, Texas) broke a school record—this time beating the previous record in the 200-Yard Butterfly by four seconds. The teams turned in a pair of third-place performances at the ultra-competitive Colby-Sawyer Invitational on Saturday morning.
Â
Gordon began the day with an impressive showing in the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay. The Scots beat the top-seeded UNE "A" team with a time of 2:03.04, a full second ahead of their competition, to win the event for the fifth straight meet. The Scots trailed the Noreasters at the start of the final leg, but Nicole St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) swam a 24.43 split to bring the Scots back for the first-place finish.
Â
The men got a top finish in the same event, just a hand length ahead of second-place finisher UMass-Dartmouth, with a time of 1:48.72. Cameron Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) anchored the men in the event.
Â
Fauber picked up his first win of the day in the 400 Yard IM, blowing the rest of the competition of the water by finishing 13 seconds ahead of the next best finisher. He set the Gordon record in the 200 Fly only a few events later, posting a time of 2:01.21, which was a full four seconds better than the record set by Nate Parsons in 2009. Fauber broke Parsons' 100 Fly record on Tuesday against Bridgewater State.
Â
The freshman finished his 3-for-3 day by winning the 500 Yard Freestyle
Â
Dean Drukker (Bedford, N.H.) picked up an individual victory for the Scots in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Drukker was the second seed going into the event, but he edged out Grayham Ronan by a tenth of a second to nab 16 points for Gordon. Joshua Florez (West Hartford, Conn.) picked up two first-place finishes—in the 100 and 200 Yard Breaststroke events.
Â
The men entered the final event of the day—the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay—as the lowest seeded "A" team of the four teams participating in the invite. However, the combination of the Drukker brothers, Fauber and Schofield took the stand atop the podium.
Â
Emily David (North Kingston, R.I.) finished off a gritty performance in the 200 Yard Backstroke, using a strong first lap to get 16 points for the women. David was also just edged out in the 50 Yard Freestyle earlier in the afternoon. Emily Sneddon (Centreville, Md.) added a personal best performance in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing in fourth place overall.
