ROXBURY, Mass. –The Gordon Indoor Track teams kicked off their 2013-14 campaign with a bang, as three school records were broken during Saturday's meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. Neal Olson, Asher Gray and the Women's 4 x 400m team all registered record-breaking performances in their first meet of the season, while several other athletes qualified for the New England Championships in March.

Olson (Acton, Mass.) finished 13th overall in the 400 Meter Dash, Gordon's first track competition of the day. The junior finished with a time of 52.51, which was nearly a full second faster than Tim Berry's mark of 53.37 back in 2006. He finished second in his heat, in a meet that involved some of the best DII and DIII schools in the region.

Gray (Sudbury, Mass.), running in his first collegiate race, finished eighth in the 500 Meter Dash and broke a school record in the process. The freshman broke the four-year-old record set by Brett Hasching during the 2009-2010 season. Gray posted a time of 1:09.84, which shaved a half second off the record.

Olson and Gray team up later, alongside David Popa (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) and Colin Smith (Uxbridge, Mass.) for a 14th place finish in the 4 x 400 m race.

Junior transfer Zak Flowers (Fountain Valley, Calif.), who came over from two-year program Golden West College in California, finished a centimeter short of the school record in the weight throw. Flowers chucked to the tune of a 14.79 meters, which was good enough for third place in the event. Ryan Williamson (Brewster, Mass.) finished 10th in the same event with a best throw of 11.95 meters.

Leanne Beedle (Bethany, Conn.) continued where she left off from the fall's cross country season and placed sixth in the mile. Her time of 5:35.65 was a few seconds short of Megan Hoffsis' record from 2010, but it was a good mark for the first indoor race of the season. Mary Beth Gray (Gaffney, S.C.) finished eight seconds later in 10th place. Gray also finished sixth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:36.76.

Beedle and Leanna D'Alfonso (Gorham, Maine) were apart of the 4 x 400 team that broke the school record last year. On Saturday they bested that record with new teammates Corrine Previte (Danver, Mass.) and Shanell Percy (Windsor, Conn.) by posting a time of 4:25.20, which was good enough for ninth place.

The two teams will compete again in a month at Smith College in Northampton, Mass. on January 25, 2014.
