Match Results
PROVIDENCE, R.I.
— One day after notching their first conference victory of the season, Gordon's Women's Tennis squad found themselves in a power struggle with non-conference opponent Rhode Island College. The Scots fell behind in doubles for the first time this season and they suffered a narrow 5-4 loss to the host Anchorwomen.

The Anchorwomen (5-0) stay undefeated in the win, while the loss drops the Fighting Scots to 3-2 in 2013.

RIC took two of the three doubles matches to start the match. Reddy and Tiberi improved to 5-0 at No. 2 doubles with an 8-6 win over sophomores Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, CA) and Lily Drescher (Reading, MA). Yeaw and Drescher suffered their first defeat of the season as a duo.

RIC junior Chelsea Brown (Wallingford, CT) and sophomore Tressa Cannata (Cranston, RI) upped their record to 3-0 at No. 3 doubles with an 8-2 decision vs. senior Jessie Dupre (North Billerica, MA) and junior Eva Kenna (Harvard, MA). Gordon freshmen Caroline Hall (Corona, CA) and Cindi Flynn (Sunset Beach, CA) won, 8-4, at first doubles to cut the visitor's deficit down to 2-1 heading into singles play.

The Fighting Scots took three of the first four singles matches to finish as Hall won (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1, and junior Hannah Damon (Mystic, CT) won at No. 6 (6-2, 6-2).

Yeaw picked up the third singles victory for Gordon at second singles. After the Gordon sophomore won the first set 6-3, RIC's Brown found a groove in the second set and forced a final stanza. In the third-set tiebreak, Yeaw fell behind 9-6 in the closing points. However she fended off three straight match points in Brown's favor and gritted out a tough 12-10 victory over the Anchorwoman' captain.

The Scots will look to stay ahead in the conference standings on Saturday, when they travel just over the town line for a huge matchup with Endicott.
