BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott overpowered the Gordon Women's Tennis team on Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 victory in CCC competition. The Scots received a win from their first doubles squad, but the Gulls found a way to grit out the other eight matches for the win.

The Gulls took the advantage in the match by winning second and third doubles, 8-4 and 8-1 respectively.

Gordon (3-3) countered with a hard-fought win at first doubles. The Scots' duo, Caroline Hall (Corona, Calif.) and Cindi Flynn (Sunset Beach, Calif.) combined for their fifth straight victory at the top flight. Hall and Flynn were able to fend off a late rally from the Gulls to claim a 9-7 victory.

Endicott (4-2) settled in during singles play and rattled off two quick victories at third and fourth singles, to bring the Gulls within a point of the overall victory. The Gulls found their fifth point of the match at second singles. Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) fought hard in the first set before losing overall 3-6, 0-6 to her opponent, Amy Heacox.

The Scots best chances at points in singles in the first and sixth spots. Hall cruised in the first set against Chrissy Martel, but the Endicott junior forced a third set with a 7-5 win in the second stanza. Martel was able to jump on Hall in the third-set tiebreak and won handily 10-2 to pick up the win at the top slot.

Hannah Damon (Mystic, Conn.) rebounded from a first-set loss 6-1, and picked up a 6-3 win in the second set to move into a tiebreak as well. Endicott's Sarah Hill was able to edge Damon in the third-set tiebreak 10-6 to finish off a sweep of the singles matchups.

The Scots have another busy week ahead with four matches on the docket. They kick off the week on Monday with a home match versus non-conference opponent Clark University.Â
