WENHAM, Mass. – Gordon Women's Tennis improved to 2-1 in conference play with an important home win over Wentworth. The Scots swept doubles competition to begin the afternoon and received five singles wins to roll to an 8-1 victory over the Leopards.

The Scots top two doubles teams continue to play very well together, as the team gets into the meat of their schedule over the next few weeks. Caroline Hall (Corona, Calif.) and Cindi Flynn (Sunset Beach, Calif.) have now won six straight matches at the top doubles flight—defeating Wentworth's top crew, 8-2.

Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) improved to 6-2 as a team, with an 8-1 win over Deborah Massaro and Nicole McColgan.

Gordon continues to look for a combination at the third spot, and they might have found chemistry between Jessie Dupre (North Billerica, Mass.) and Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.). The senior-freshman duo rolled to an 8-3 win in their first match as a team.

With a 3-0 lead heading into singles competition, Gordon got quick victories from Hall (6-2, 6-2) and Flynn (6-1, 6-3) to clinch the overall match victory. The Scots would rally off wins at third, fifth and sixth singles as well to earn eight points on the day.

Rebecca Levy (Plymouth, Mass.) and Hannah Damon (Mystic, Conn.) both battled back from first-set losses to win in third sets.

The Scots (5-3) officially surpassed their win total from a season ago only halfway through the 2013 season.

Gordon continues their busy week tomorrow with an away match just down Route 128 at Salem State. The Scots will look to avenge a loss they suffered at the hands of the Vikings during the spring.Â
