BEVERLY, Mass.—Roger Williams Women's Tennis downed the Fighting Scots in a battle for the third seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament on the final day of the regular season. Gordon could only manage a win at the first doubles flight, as the Hawks handled the Scots across the rest of the lineup—falling 8-1 at the Bass River Tennis Club.
 
Roger Williams took two of the three doubles matches, dropping only two games between the second and third flights. Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and Sophie Linnell (Richmond, Va.) trailed 6-3 in their match, but fought through the adversity by winning five consecutive games for the win.
 
In singles, Ali Stankiewicz defeated Alexa DiDomizio (Mahwah, N.J.) 6-1, 6-1 at sixth singles to bring the match to 3-1. Harley Kaiserman brought the Hawks within a point with a straight set win at third singles over Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.), 6-1, 6-3. Kathryn Hughes clinched the match for Roger Williams at second singles, where she handed Linnell a 6-1, 6-1 defeat.
 
Nathalia Moran (Lake Villa, Ill.) hung with Caroline McCarthy in the second set, but McCarthy was able to pull out a 6-1, 6-4 win at five. Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.) dropped her first set to Alexandra Brown 6-0, but battled back for a 6-4 win in the second set. Brown was able to outlast Caron in a third-set tiebreaker, 10-5. Lauren Schmidt completed the sweep of the singles matches with a tight straight-set victory over Yeaw at the first flight.

Gordon falls to 6-6 on the season and 5-3 in CCC play. They will host a CCC first round match on Tuesday at the Brigham Tennis Courts.
