Match Box Score
BEVERLY, Mass.—Gordon Women's Tennis saw its Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament run come to an end against the two-time defending conference champions and top-seeded Endicott Gulls, 5-0. Endicott played near flawless tennis in doubles play and carved out two points early in singles competition to end the matchup without giving up a point. The Fighting Scots fall to 7-7 on the year.

In Thursday's semifinal against Gordon, Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) provided the match-deciding fifth point by defeating Scots sophomore Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.) at the #4 singles position 6-4, 6-0. The first singles match to finish and Endicott's fourth point of the match came from #3 singles freshman Dayna Reilly (Swansea, Mass.) who handled Gordon junior Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) 6-0, 6-0.

Earlier in the match, the Blue and Green put themselves in a prominent position to win by sweeping doubles play to take a 3-0 team lead. Number one doubles duo of CCC Player of the Year Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) and Reilly teamed up to defeat Gordon junior Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and freshman Sophie Linnell (Richmond, Va.) by a score of 8-1. Senior #2 doubles partners Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) and Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) shutout Drescher and Carol 8-0 while #3 doubles players Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) and Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) scored an 8-1 win to complete the doubles sweep.

Endicott moves on to defend its title on Saturday at home against second-seeded Nichols. The two schools have faced each other in the last three championships, but Endicott has pulled out each one. Gordon still has two non-conference matches remaining on the fall schedule, beginning with a NEWMAC matchup at Springfield College next Tuesday before returning home on Thursday against Worcester State to conclude the year.
