Fightings Scots Lap Monks in Home Finale

Meet Results
WENHAM, Mass.—-It was a good day for Gordon College's Fighting Scots in the pool in front of a packed Bennett Aquatic Center crowd. The Fighting Scots Men and Women's teams ended their regular season with wins over a talented set of teams from Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

The afternoon started well for the Scots, with commanding wins for both squads in the 200 Yard Medley event.

Saint Joseph's fought back with two first-place finishes in the long distance competitions by Lauren Halvorsen in the Women's 1650-Yard Freestyle and Chris Cullity in the Men's 1000-Yard Free.

Gordon swimmers responded with strong individual performances from sophomores Nicole St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) and Andrew Lewis (Mystic, Conn.) in the 200-Yard Freestyle contest.

The Scots' squad proceeded to claim first place finishes in many of the pool sprints.

Freshman Alex Hall (Boca Raton, Fla.) out swam the Monks' Erin Weir in the Women's 50-Yard Backstroke before Katherine Zablocki (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Joshua Florez (West Hartford, Conn.) swept both the 50-Yard Breaststroke and 100-Yard Breaststroke contests in Gordon's favor

The Fighting Scots brought the afternoon to a close with ten victories in the last twelve races.

The Men's squad ended in dramatic fashion with a fingernail win over Saint Joseph's in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. Gordon's anchor, freshman Daniel Fauber (Granbury, Texas), showed poise in the clutch by preserving a millisecond lead and outreaching his Saint Joe counterpart to seal the victory and cap off a successful day, and season, of Fighting Scot competition.

Gordon's Scots will next dive into the pool at the New England Championships in Kingston, Rhode Island Feb. 13-16.
