Meet ResultsSPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The process of setting new school records has become a favorite pastime for the Gordon Track and Field teams. A week after great performances at the Commonwealth Coast Conference meet, Gordon made their way to the New England Championships hosted by Springfield College. The Fighting Scots broke five records at the result-based invite and had two athletes qualify for the ECAC Championships in two weeks.
Â
Zak Flowers (Fountain Valley, Calif.) started the three-day event with a personal record in the hammer throw. His toss of 49.45m was short of Schuyler Anderson's 2012 mark, but placed him fifth in the event and earned him All-New England status. On Saturday, Flowers once against earned an All-New England nod, but this time in the discus. The junior launched the disc 42.97 meters, which was good enough for the Scots' first broken record of the day and eighth in the region.
Â
Later in the day, the men's 4x100 relay broke the school record with a blistering 44.61 time. Neal Olson, David Popa, Asher Gray and Ben Sebuufu made up the record-breaking relay team. In the final event of the day, Olson, Gray, Sebuufu and Colin Ponzani combined to break the record in the 4x400m by nearly five seconds. Their 3:27.25 time led them to a 17
th place finish in New England.
Â
The women also had plenty of success in the relays with the 4x400m team of Amanda Tarquinio, Leanne Beedle, Leanna D'Alfronso and Corrine Previte turning in a school record in 4:09.91.
Â
Before the relay, Previte posted a great individual effort in the 400m with a time of 58.88. Her pace broke the Gordon record and was a personal best for the freshman, who also qualified for NEICAAA and ECAC Championships with her 10
th place finish.Â
