Swimming Opens Winter Season at CCC Relays

BRISTOL, R.I.—The Gordon Swim teams turned in a pair of solid performances at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Relays on Saturday. The Gordon men earned third place, while the women grabbed fourth overall. Host Roger Williams won the men's and women's team events on the first day of competition for all teams.
 
The women opened the day with a bronze showing in the 200-yard Medley Relay. Newcomer Caris Lyons (Orville, Ohio) anchored a unit that put up a time of 2:01.70. Roger Williams' 'A' team broke the meet record set by the Hawks last October. Lyons backed it up with another bronze finish in the 200-Yard Free with a time of 2:06.64.
 
Gordon earned 42 total points on the day for fourth place behind Roger Williams, Clark and UNE.
 
Junior Daniel Fauber (Granbury, Texas) continued his dominance in the meet, breaking the CCC record in the 200 Yard Free with a time of 1:48.72. He previously set the record during the 2014 meet. Fauber also broke his own meet record in the 100 Yard Fly with a time of 53.85, besting Roger Williams' top three swimmers. 

Gordon had its best relay finish in the 200 Yard Free, as Jack Cicchelli (Middletown, R.I.), Cam Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.), Josh Florez (West Hartford, Conn. and Fauber combined for a second-place finish with a time of 1:36.16. Florex and Cicchelli also picked up a second-place individual finish each. 

The Fighting Scots totaled 69 points for the meet. Roger Williams ran away with the men's event with 236 points.
