SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Junior captain Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) gutted out a third-set tiebreaker 10-7 to clinch a 5-4 match victory for the Fighting Scots over the host Pride of Springfield College. Gordon pulled back to .500 on the season and ended a two-match skid that carried over from spring break.
 
The Pride took the first match of the day with an 8-2 win at second doubles. Gordon fought back with an 8-5 triumph at the top flight thanks to Yeaw and Sophie Linnell (Richmond, Va.). Nathalia Moran (Lake Villa, Ill.) and Alexa DiDomizio (Mahwah, N.J.) downed Rachel Litchfield (Northbridge, Mass.) and Stephani Post (Westford, Mass.) at third doubles to give Gordon a 2-1 match advantage.
 
Haley Bean (Trumbull, Conn.) edged Springfield's Alanna Grady (Springfield, Mass.) at sixth singles to push Gordon's lead to two points. However, Springfield took three of the next four decisions to even the match at four apiece. Gordon's only win during the stretch was a three-set decision for Linnell at second singles.
 
Yeaw won her first set over Rachel London (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) 7-5, but dropped the second in a tiebreaker to force a final frame. Yeaw outlasted London 10-7 in the super tiebreak to clinch the scintillating win for the Fighting Scots.
 
Gordon is back on the courts tomorrow when they play Division II Saint Anselm at the Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly at 5 p.m.
