NORTON, Mass.—One day following a tough home debut, Gordon Women's Tennis put a check in the win column with an impressive 7-2 defeat of Wheaton (Mass.). Senior Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) completed her second three-set comeback in as many days and Gordon swept doubles competition to help record the victory.
 
The Fighting Scots looked a bit more comfortable in doubles competition on Wednesday afternoon after dropping two of three to Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday. Katherine Jeffreys (Parkton, Md.) and Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) began the match with an 8-3 win at third doubles, while Justine Hanson (Meadow Vista, Calif.) and Gabrielle Brucker (Eleva, Wis.) doubled up their opponents at the second flight.
 
Abbie Denney (Peoria, Ariz.) and Yeaw met a little more resistance from Wheaton's top duo, but still managed to pull out an 8-4 win.
 
Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.) brought the Scots to the brink of victory with a quick 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles and Hanson finished it off with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at two.
 
Wheaton received its only two wins of the day at first and sixth singles, both in straight sets.
 
Gordon (1-1) continues its early season gauntlet with an away match at Nichols on Saturday. The Bison finished second in the preseason poll after a championship match appearance last season.
