Swimmers Split with Babson in Return

Meet Results
BABSON PARK, Mass.—A month break could not cool down the Fighting Scots Women's Swim program as they improved to 5-1 in head-to-head meets with a 142-96 win at Babson College on Saturday. The Beavers got their revenge in the men's competition with a 136-100 victory.
 
The two teams will look to take a conference meet on Tuesday when they travel up to Biddeford to take on the University of New England at 6:30 p.m. UNE has won one and lost one to the Scots on the women's side in invites this season. The Gordon men have finished ahead of the Nor'easters both times this year, including a solid performance at Colby-Sawyer last month.
 
Women's Highlights
  • Gordon and Babson split the two relays, although the Scots swam exhibition in all three flights entered. Alexa Bragg, Nicole St. Martin, Emily David and Caris Lyons combined for a seven-second win in the 200-Yard Medley to open the meet.
  • St Martin won the 1,000-Yard Freestyle be over a minute
  • Lyons finished just a few seconds slower than her seed time in the 200 Free and bested the next best swimmer by over 10 seconds. The freshman also had a five-second win in the 100 Free.
  • Bragg won two events as well with quick finishes in the 50 and 100 Back events.
  • Leah Snavley was just a hair off her best time in the 50-Yard Breaststroke with a finish of 36.60 to earn a victory. She also won the 100 yard variety, besting teammate Hannah Denney.
  • Sisters Emily and Megan David combined for three individual victories on the afternoon.
  • Gordon won 10 of the first 11 events on the day.
 
Men's Highlights
  • Babson's An Truong became the first swimmer to beat Dan Fauber in the 200 Free this season by a mere second.
  • Freshman Kenny Lowell joined Fauber and Dean Drukker in qualifying for New England's in the 200 Free.
  • Josh Florez was the first Gordon swimmer to win an individual event outright with a one-second victory in the 100 Breaststroke.
