Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gulls Swoop Past Scots in Season Finale

WENHAM, Mass.—Endicott Women's Soccer took advantage of one opportunity near the start of each half to knock off Gordon 2-0 in the season finale for both sides. The Gulls offense did a little bit of everything to keep the pressure on the Fighting Scots for a majority of the contest and locked up a top three seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament.

The Fighting Scots finish the regular season at 6-9-2 and will be the eighth seed in the CCC playoffs. Endicott improves its solid footing at 12-3-2 and 7-2 in the conference.

Endicott put two shots on goal in the opening five minutes, but both were stopped by Kali Denty (Marshfield, Mass.). The Gulls kept up the press, but it was an unconventional lofted attempt that put the first point on the scoreboard. Paige Pratt (Topsfield, Mass.) sent a sky-high ball over the top of the defense from 30 yards out and Denty was unable to scramble all the back before the attempt crept underneath the crossbar.

The Gulls held a 12-1 shot advantage in the first half, but were unable to add to their lead.

Endicott wasted no time in the second half, capitalizing on a turnover in the midfield. Larissa Cade (Middlefield, Conn.) stole a ball just inside the Gulls' offensive half and carried the ball down the left side. Cade threaded a through ball by two defenders, finding Rachel Hanna (Chelmsford, Mass.) in stride in the middle of the box. Hanna passed the ball by the approaching Denty to make it a two-goal game.

A tackle in the box in the 76th minute gave Endicott a chance to put the game away for good, but Abigail Silverstein's (Katonah, N.Y.) drive to the left side was knocked away by sprawling Denty. The Gulls got another point-blank chance on the rebound, but Denty held her ground for a second time.

Gordon's best chance of the day came on a looping attempt from the right side by Tori Caswell (Uxbridge, Mass.), but the ball hit the crossbar and away from trouble.

Denty made 11 save for Gordon and the Scots added another team save. Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) made two stops for the Gulls.

CCC playoff seeding will be released later in the week.
