Swim Teams Wrap up Successful NEISDA Event

Day 3 Results
KINGSTON, R.I.—The Gordon College Swim teams finished a strong weekend at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championships at the University of Rhode Island on Sunday. The women continued their upward trend, finishing at fifth overall after sitting in 11th following the first day. The Gordon men hovered around the top five all weekend, ultimately grabbing sixth overall.
 
Both championships were won by teams who led from the beginning to the end of the event. The Roger Williams women finished with 1,453 total points to beat Keene State, but the Owls got a big win on the men's side of things with 866 points. The Gordon women totaled 604, while the men finished with 318.
 
 
Day Three Highlights
  • Joshua Florez (West Hartford, Conn.) topped the competition for the second time during the weekend, winning the 200 breast by three seconds over David Kitchen of Roger Williams. Florez swam identical times in the prelims and the finals to break the school record with a time of 2:06.09.
  • Caris Lyons (Orrville, Ohio) had an All-New England nod with a 7th-place finish in the 100 Free.
  • Nicole St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) and Dean Drukker (Bedford, N.H.) finished with identical fifth-place results in the 1,650 Free races. St Martin had a time of 18:25.32, which was almost a minute faster than her seeded time. Drukker also blasted his seeded time with a mark of 17:45.15.
  • Alexa Bragg (Trumbull, Conn.) was All-New England in the 50 Back
  • Emily David (No. Kingston, R.I.) broke the long-standing Gordon record in the 200 Fly in the preliminary races and came in sixth during the finals on Sunday evening. David's prelim time was 2:19.43.
  • Daniel Fauber (Granbury, Texas) also broke a school record in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:52.36. Cole Hogg of Keene State caught Fauber by a tenth of a second in the nightcap.
  • David wrapped up her strong weekend with another school record in the 100 IM, coming in fifth.
  • Cameron Schofield (Middleboro, Mass.) earned the men 12 points with an All-New England finish in the men's 100 IM.
  • Gordon ended its time at NEISDA with a school record in the 400 Free Relay on the women's side with a time of 3:42.75.
