Gulls Fly Over Scots, 70-55

Box Score

In Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball action today in Gordon's Bennett Athletic Center, the Gulls of Endicott College used a furious offensive start to establish a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the day and hand the Fighting Scots a 70-55 loss.

The Scots drop to 7-14 overall, 5-9 in conference with the loss while Endicott improves to 10-11 overall and 9-5 in league play.

Freshman guard Meghan Foley (Malden, Mass.) paced the Fighting Scots with a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds to go with one assist and two steals, while sophomore guard Olivia Stark (Arvada, Colo.) added 12 points and classmate Sarah Gibbs (Elizabethtown, Pa.) chipped in six boards to the effort.

Guard Emily Pratt (Fr./Gardner, Mass.) led the way for Endicott with a game-high 20 points to match her career high and senior forward Sarah Hood (Burlington, Mass.) recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, and a game-high three blocks in the win.

After a slow start left them to play catch up, the Scots regrouped in the second frame to convert six points off turnovers and draw the game to a reachable 35-24 heading into the break.

Not to be denied, the Gulls came out of the half to record their best quarter of the afternoon, netting 21 points to Gordon's 14 to extend their advantage to 56-38. And despite outscoring their guests 17-14 in the final stanza, the Scots' late offensive showing proved not enough in the end to overcome the early deficit.

The Scots travel to Bristol, R.I. to take on Roger Williams in a CCC duel on Wednesday, February 8 at 5:30 p.m. Endicott will hit the road to face Nichols on the same day, same time.
