Gordon's Women's Tennis traveled in full force to compete in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) this past weekend in Northampton, Massachusetts. The tournament consisted of four draws (A, B, C, and D) based on skill level, each of which was comprised of either eight or 16 groups of two to four players from the same institution. Representing the Fighting Scots were Justin Hanson and Gabrielle Brucker (1), Anne Carsey, Kaelyn Hall, and Emily Ontiveros (2), Caitlin Kwok, Jordyn Maddex, and Anna Mullane (3), and Abby Graves, Madison West, and Courtney Barlotta (4).

All four of Gordon's teams (three in C draw and one in D draw) won the first round to advance to the main draw bracket where single elimination began.  

No. 1 Hanson and Brucker steamrolled through the brackets, cruising to the finals to take on NESCAC powerhouse Colby where they were handed a 3-0 defeat. Gordon's second team of Carsey, Hall, and Ontiveros was topped by Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival, Nichols College, in straight sets in the quarters, while Kwok, Maddex, and Mullane battled to the semifinals where they were halted, 3-0, by another strong Colby crew. Rounding out the competition, Graves, West, and Barlotta were bested in three once again by stiff competition from Colby at No. 4.

The Scots look to make their return to CCC tournament action a strong one as they travel to Beverly, Massachusetts to take on the No. 2-ranked Gulls Of Endicott College in the semifinals at 2 p.m.
