WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at the Softball Field for Senior Day and split the series with a 3-2 loss and a 10-2 win.
In game one, the Fighting Scots (7-18, 3-9 CCC) struck first in the bottom of the third inning as
Emily Kline scored
Sarah Ryder with a single to centerfield. The Leopards (8-15, 1-7 CCC) tied the game in the top of the fourth with a RBI ground out by Rachel Willcutt.
Karissa Hatchell singled to left field to drive in
Lily Rivera in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 2-1 game. Wentworth scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead going into the final inning. Gordon was able to put one runner on in the bottom of the seventh, but the Leopards forced two ground outs and struck out a batter to seal the win.
Kline went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Rivera batted 2-for-4 with one run and a double. Ryder went 1-for-3 with one run.
Caitlin Catalantto pitched all seven innings and struck out six batters.
In game two, Wentworth scored two runs in the top of the first off a walk with the bases loaded and an RBI single by Kayla DeMedeiros to take an early 2-0 lead. The Fighting Scots responded in the bottom of the inning by scoring four runs off a three-RBI double by
Rose Shannon and an RBI double by
Arianna Ramsaran. They added eight more runs in the bottom of the fourth with four of them coming off of home runs by Kline and Ramsaran. The Leopards were able to put two runners on base in the top of the fifth, but Gordon forced a ground out to get the final out and clinch the victory.
Shannon batted 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBIs and tied her career-best with two runs. Ramsaran went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run. Kline hit her 11
th career home run while also batting 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.
Jasmine Mullally pitched five innings and struck out four batters.
The Fighting Scots will next host Salve Regina in CCC action tomorrow April 14 at 1 p.m.
