The Amcats' efforts were paced by Amber Wison (Jr./New York, N.Y.) who had 23 points and five blocks, Sierra Johnson (Sr./Brockton, Mass.) who scored 19 points, and Franchesca Hammond (Jr./Worcester, Mass.) who added 14 points.
How It Happened
- Five lead changes in the first frame resulted in the Scots taking a 15-12 edge heading into the second quarter.
- Anderson opened the second with her second three-pointer of the game to give the Scots a six-point cushion. A minute later, Hammond drove to the basket for an "and one" to cut the deficit in half. However, the Scots outscored the visitors 7-4 in the frame to take a 25-19 lead into the break.
- The Amcats came within one twice in the third but Foley's 14 straight points for the blue and white gave Gordon the 47-38 lead heading into the final frame.
- Gordon's freshmen Anderson, Olivia Gagnon, and Madison Wynbeek scored the first seven points for the Scots in the fourth to extend their lead to 12 points. Not going away without a fight Anna Maria had a 26-point fourth but it wasn't enough as the Fighting Scots came away with the 69-64 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
- Meghan Foley booked her third game this season with 30 or more points.
- Delaney McDonnell recorded a career-high five assists.
- Said Head Coach Carter Shaw: "There were times in the game where things weren't going well but we got stops at key moments and then made plays on the offensive end. I thought the seventeen assists we had on twenty-five baskets was a nice indicator of how well we moved the ball and found the open player. I was also really pleased with our rebounding effort which seemed like a direct result of our overall defensive focus and energy. There are a lot of lessons we can learn from this game but as a whole I was pleased with the result."
